Ron Schack and Anne McIntyre-Lahner have collaborated on a new book, Data Is Not A Four-Letter Word which talks about understanding, dealing with, and overcoming data fear. They discuss the nature and types of data fear and describe a “data comfort continuum.” The book includes a “data fear self-assessment” that gives the user insight into the kinds of data fear they may be struggling with and helps identify potential actions to overcome these fears. Anne and Ron discuss their own data fear journeys, and provide a “fear-fighting tool box” that includes an array of tools that can help the reader progress along the data comfort continuum.
